Another year has flown by, and here we are again with another Andy’s Christmas Special Edition Ride. It has become a tradition in the recent years!
On these occasions we head out with our chosen group ride, but instead of finishing in Horsham, the idea is to end the ride at Andy’s house. This is not an official club event, but organised by Andy to enjoy sharing a mince pie or two with those he has ridden with and known during the year, hence for the Inter and Sporting groups.
To be honest, I still don’t fully understand why he does all this – willingly putting in the effort to welcome 30–40 people, feeding them endless mince pies and serving truly excellent mulled wine. By the way, about that mulled wine: I’ve been lucky enough to sample quite a few across Europe’s Christmas markets, and Andy’s is genuinely the best! I’m not saying that just because it’s Andy’s…it’s simply the truth. 😀
I know we’re all different, with our own strengths and weaknesses, but let’s just say I know for sure I wouldn’t do this – inviting people into my home, letting them wander through the living room, across the grass, bikes everywhere around the house, fence and garden. But most importantly wasting the precious mulled wine I’d much rather have all to myself. No chance… Thankfully for all of us though, Andy and his family are not like me. ❤️
That’s exactly why on behalf of myself and all the club members who were there, I would like to THANK YOU ANDY for your kindness and hospitality. It’s a truly generous gesture that makes December – and the anticipation of Christmas – a little more special for all of us. 🎄🚴
