20th anniversary Horsham Cycling

20th Anniversary

By Stewart Forbes.

On Thursday 17th April 2025 the club had two events to celebrate this milestone consisting of club rides and a social evening. It was a sunny spring morning and many members met at the bandstand in Horsham Park for rides consisting of social, intermediate and sporting groups.

The routes were all different, but we all converged at the Tanhouse Farm shop near Newdigate for coffee and cakes and a chat. The rides arrived a slightly different times so the queue for coffee was not too long. Lots of photos were taken and it was great to see nearly everyone in club kit creating a sea of blue and white.

In the evening event more that 70 members including some past members gathered in the Olive Branch pub for an evening of socialising. Andy Duffin of AD Cycles attended. He helped promote the club in the early days and organised several off-road rides, particularly in the summer evenings.

The event organiser Charlie Hancock had a friend bake a special cake for for our 20th anniversary evening. People started arriving at 5pm and before 7 the place was packed. At 8pm I, being the co-founder member, had the honour of cutting the cake while the members raised a glass to celebrate the event. It as great to see a good cross section of the club to turn out for this special occasion.
